Visa Information

The visa section at the Uganda Embassy, Tehran is open to the public Sunday to Thursday from 09:00 am to 3:30 pm, except on public holidays in Uganda and Iran where it is closed.

Applicants are advised to submit their completed application forms well in advance (48 working hours before the proposed travel date) and it is the responsibility of the applicant to verify the visa particulars before travelling.

CHECKLIST FOR ISSUANCE OF OFFICIAL AND EAST AFRICA TOURIST VISA

Visas are valid only from the date of issue and stated period:

  1. Dully filled visa application form by each applicant (to be collected from consular section of the Embassy or downloaded via Visa & Consular
  2. A recent colored passport-size photograph (original)
  3. A genuine passport valid for at least six months from the proposed date of entry
  4. Photocopy of bio-data page of the applicant's passport
  5. Letter of invitation or introduction.
  6. Bank statements in case you are meeting own costs, or if travelling on business as a guarantee, and where applicant will stay in Uganda
  7. Photocopy of a valid air ticket for traveling to Uganda with return or onward travel
  8. International Health certificate showing proof of yellow fever vaccination (for persons coming from yellow fever affected countries)
  9. Original bank slip or other original bank documents as a proof of payment of visa fees
  10. Applicant should report personally to the Embassy to pick the visa / passport, unless the visa was requested through an agent, who may pick it on behalf of the applicant.
  11. Applicants may be requested to submit additional supporting documentation/ information before visa is issued

VISA FEE SCHEDULE AND OTHER DETAILS

  • Only single entry visas are issued at a fee of US$50
  • Visa fees must be paid to Uganda Embassy, Tehran account on submission of Visa applications.
  • Cheques are not accepted
  • Visas are valid for one month from the date of issue. This means that a visa holder should use the visa within one month from the date of issuance.
  • This however, doesn't mean that the holder is granted one month to stay in the country. The length of stay in the country is determined by the immigration officer at the port of entry and begins on the date the holder enters the country and not from the date when visa was issued.
  • Visas are issued within two working days - 48 hours from the date of receipt of the application (depending on the information availed). Failure to fully complete the application form may result in the issuance of a visa being delayed or refused. Visas issued at the Uganda Embassy, Tehran enable the holder to proceed to a port of entry where he/ she must comply with the laws and regulations governing the admission of persons to the Republic of Uganda.
  • Possession of a visa is not a guarantee of entry to the country, the immigration officers at the port of entry may deny a visitor entry if she/ he does not fulfill immigration requirements or does not possess sufficient funds to support himself/herself for a reasonable period after his/her arrival, return/ onward tickets and other documents required for his / her destination.

All visa fees will be paid to Bank Melli Central Branch: A/C Number 702739, and payment receipt attached with original passport, and brought to the Embassy for processing of the visa

List of countries whose Nationalities do not require a visa to enter Uganda:

Angola, Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Burundi, Comoros, Cyprus, Eritrea, Fiji, Gambia, Grenada, Italy (Diplomatic Passport holders only), Jamaica, Ireland, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Malta, Mauritius, Madagascar, Rwanda, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, St. Vincent and Grenadines, Swaziland, Tanzania, Tonga, Vanuatu, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Should you be in doubt as to whether you require a visa, consult your nearest Uganda Diplomatic or consular Mission.

After entry into Uganda, a visitor may request to extend his stay; where visitors seek to stay longer than the period granted in the visitor's pass on arrival, extension of the period should be sought from the Department of Citizenship &Immigration at the Ministry of Internal Affairs Headquarters in Kampala or respective regional offices before expiry of the initial visitor's pass. Save for EAC nationals, extensions sought by other foreign nationals shall not exceed six months in aggregate.

REQUIREMENTS FOR EXTENSION OF VISITORS PASS

  1. Fill extension of visitor's pass form
  2. Attach Covering letter from applicant or host if applicable
  3.  Attach immigration status of host (if applicable)
  4. Attach Copy of confirmed return air- ticket
  5. Attach Copy of passport/travel document
  6. Provide Original passport for endorsement of facility
  7. All foreign nationals entering and residing in Uganda must comply with immigration legislation and other national laws of the country during their stay in Uganda
